Old Ephraim's Grave

Hello my name is Alan Keith Jacobsen. I've been called a lot of other things, but that's what is on the birth certificate. I go by Alan, but some call me "Al". I am the 2nd son of Keith and Bette (Willes) Jacobsen, and The grandson of Raymond and Ireta (Smith) Jacobsen, and Emery and Bertha (Anderson) Willes. I mention my heritage because I am proud of my lineage, that is who I am. Those mentioned are the ancestors that I personally knew. It was them that raised me, and taught me the things that I know and enjoy. I was taught to take pride in all that I do, and to always do my best. "Anything worth doing is worth doing right", is a phrase I heard often. I also could see that in their work. They also taught me to believe in myself. I guess that without them I wouldn't be doing this web site. So in a way this is a salute to them. I will do my best to make them proud.

I was born and raised in Logan, Utah. It was a small town, in the heart of Cache Valley, in northern Utah. It is surrounded by some of the prettiest scenery in the world, (admitting a little prejudice). I grew up under the tutelage of my Grandpa Jacobsen. He was my best friend until he died when I was 11. We were almost inseparable. He taught me to love the outdoors, fishing, boating, hiking, or just driving around in the mountains became my favorite pastime. He taught me to appreciate the beauty of my surroundings. I remember going places like Old Ephraim's grave, Cutler dam, as well as many other places we visited regularly. The beauty I saw around the trails, and along the roads, getting there is unsurpassed by any I could hope to see. These are the things I learned to treasure and enjoy. I'm thankful for a Grandpa that took the time to instill in me the love I have for the great outdoors, and the beauty of nature. I still feel close to him when I'm doing the things we use to do together.

When I was 19, I served a two year Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in London England. That was as a great experience for me. I became exposed to many different cultures and people. I learned to love them all. I still have a great love for Great Britain and it's people. It is a beautiful place full of culture and beauty. I hope to get back soon, and be able to share some of it here. I hope to be able to travel to many parts of the world throughout my life and see this worlds beauty for myself. I will share what I see here on my web site. I hope it will always be growing with art you can enjoy.

I still have a lot of love for the outdoors. I love to hunt, fish, hike, and camping when I can, (basically any excuse to go outside). I also love to garden, both vegetable and flowers. A lot of the flowers on this web-site are in my own garden. Perhaps some of my love of gardening came from my experience in England. The British are very proud of their beautiful gardens. However; I think a lot of my love of gardening comes from my Grandma Jacobsen. She was a terrific gardner, and always had a garden full of pretty flowers. My Dad once said "Your Grandma could plant a fence post and have it grow".I don't know if her thumb was that green, but I have great memories of the flowers she grew. The one that reminds me of her the most is the peony. I grow some in my garden in memory of her.

As long as I can remember I have always enjoyed art. It is a great way to attempt to capture the beauty of what I see. I love to work with many mediums, photography, drawing, painting, and carving. I also made a little jewelry in High School. I enjoyed that a lot. It took me a while to realize that others can see value in the work that I do. So there is the reason for this site. It allows me a chance share with you the beauty of the world that God has given me.

This site is mostly Photography for now. I am working on some other art, and I hope to soon have more of it available to put on this web site as well. Thank you for stopping by and getting to know me and check out some of my work. I hope you enjoy my work and will tell all your friends.

Thank You, Alan
