I removed most of the wood by making relief cuts with the dremel,
then using a hammer and chisel I knocked out the wood chips.

Shaping the antlers and face

Giving a little shape to the Bull

Watch for the change in the picture to the right

A little more contour in the body than the picture to the left

Here it is all stained. I'm going to sand the sky better.
The stain really shows the places that need to be sanded better.

I re sanded and stained the sky, and I also gave the mountain peaks a little snow.
I'm calling this part of the bed done.

I added some logs to get ready for the carving.
Now it looks more like a picture frame

I started a log bed a while ago. Because the four corner posts have been blessed by a medicine man, I want to make the bed something unique. So I thought I would carve a mural of an Elk for the headboard instead of the normal log runs. With a Native American theme in mind, I thought I would call my bed "Wapiti Dreams". It has taken me some time to get the wood I wanted to carve. I now have a good piece of Maple 24 x 60. So it is time to get the dream done. Here are some pictures of my progress. I hope you like it.
